Something my husband and I created last night. Basically, it's Picadillo on a hamburger bun, with a few changes in ingredients.
Puerto Rican Sloppy Joes
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
1 garlic clove, minced
½ green bell pepper, diced
1 lb ground beef
¾ cup ketchup
¼ cup water
¼ cup green olives, diced
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp white vinegar
Salt, to taste
Ground black pepper, to taste
✗ Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
✗ Add onions and green pepper. Cook until caramelized, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, cook 1 minute.
✗ Add beef and cook, breaking into small pieces until browned.
✗ Whisk together ketchup and water. Add to skillet and mix well.
✗ Add the rest of the ingredients and reduce heat to simmer. Simmer 15 minutes.
✗ Serve on hamburger buns.
